The review division of AFAQ/Best CERT Ltd. announced on 6 October 2010 that China Zhongwang Holdings Limited has obtained the International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS) certification for its production of aluminum alloy profiles for use in locomotives and rolling stocks. The company has become the third Chinese aluminum processor who passed the certification.

The IRIS, set by the Union of European Railway Industries based on the ISO9000 quality standard, is the quality management and assessment system in the railway industry. The IRIS shows increasing influence with endorsement by the top four system manufacturers, namely Bombardier, Siemens, Alstom and Ansaldobreda. The standard has become a globally recognized, authoritative quality assessment (management) system tailored for the sector.

In order to develop a world-class quality management system and tap the high-end market, China Zhongwang initiated preparatory work for the IRIS certification. All parties put relentless efforts into promoting the IRIS within the company by arranging expert talks as well as training, and making adjustments and improvements according to approval requirements.

Obtaining the certification means China Zhongwang has won a pass to Europe and other parts of the world with its aluminum alloy profiles for use in locomotives and rolling stocks, and that the company is on par with its international peers in terms of quality management. China Zhongwang has enhanced its overall management level based on the ISO9000 standard and achieved high quality with low costs. As the IRIS certification received by China Zhongwang has been added to the global IRIS database and shown on well-known websites, the company is likely to have more opportunities for global collaboration and boost its sales of aluminum alloy profiles in Europe and all over the world.
