The “2012 Vice President Working Conference” and the “2012 China Non-ferrous Metals Processing Industry Technology Upgrade Meeting”, both organised by the China Non-Ferrous Metals Processing Industry Association, were held in Guiyang city on 18-22 September. At the conference, winners of “Top Ten Industrial Aluminium Extrusion Enterprises in China” were announced with awards presented. China Zhongwang ranked the first among the ten enterprises.
The stringent award selection process lasted half a year. For entry, participating enterprises had to provide an application form along with supporting documents. The selection involved a 3-step process, including an initial site evaluation by expert panel, an advisory committee review and a final assessment by the chairman’s office. It is evaluated against the company size, financing and listing situation, exploration capability, export, product quality and technology know-how. The results were graded to a maximum score of 1,000 points. The award was known as the most renowned one in the industry in a decade.
In the first half of this year,
China Zhongwang continued its growth pattern since 2H2011. Revenue and profit for the period attributable to owners of the Company increased by 60.9% to RMB6.88 billion and by 152.0% to RMB1.04 billion, y-o-y respectively. Sales from the PRC market rose 51.2% y-o-y to RMB6.33 billion while export sales rose 524.3% y-o-y to RMB551 million. Driven by the increasing sales volume of deep-processed products with higher margin, overall gross profit margin of the Group rose 2.8 percentage points to 23.4%. Total sales volume of aluminium extrusion products grew 51.8% to 286 kilotonnes, already accomplishing over 50% of its 2012 annual sales target being 500,000 tonnes.
According to the BCG report, China’s consumption of industrial aluminum extrusion products will increase with a CAGR of 12.8% from 2.6 million tonnes in 2009 to 5.4 million tonnes in 2015. It is expected that global consumption of industrial aluminum extrusion products in the major downstream sectors will reach 8.7 million tonnes in 2015 while Chinas consumption will reach 5.4 million tonnes. Of the existing 124 sectors in the country, 113 sectors used aluminium products, representing to 91% of the total. Forging ahead, industrial aluminium extrusion products will have a very bright future.
Chinese industrial aluminium extrusion enterprises are far ahead of their global competitors in terms of equipment and technology levels. In the past, China lagged behind the U.S. and Europe in terms of processing and application. By now, with the continuous technology and equipment upgrade, both product quality and market position of Chinese industrial aluminum extrusion enterprises have significantly improved.
For the global distribution of large extrusion presses of 75MN or above,
China Zhongwang has been at the industry forefront in terms of volume and capacity. There are altogether 26 sets of extrusion presses of over 75MN in the entire China market and less than 10 sets in the overseas market. China Zhongwang alone has 21 sets of such large scale extrusion presses, including four 125MN oil-driven dual action aluminium extrusion presses. The Group’s annual production capacity is expected to reach 1 million tonnes by the end of this year.
China Zhongwang continues to expand and optimise production capacity of high-end and large-section industrial aluminium extrusion products. Following the introduction of the first 125MN oil-driven dual action aluminium extrusion press in 2009, the Group has been adding 18 large extrusion presses of 75MN or above, including nine 75MN, six 90MN and three 125MN extrusion presses, starting from 2011 until end of this year,
On top of that, China Zhongwang has placed orders for two sets of the world’s largest and most advanced 225MN single action horizontal aluminium extrusion presses from Germany in May this year.
China Zhongwang’s unique core competitiveness in the industry lies in the comprehensive strength of its four-in-one model. In China, the Group is the only enterprise which covers the whole production chain of industrial aluminium extrusion products, i.e., the integration of smelting and casting, die design, advanced equipment and research development capability all under one roof.
Currently, light-weight development aimed at energy conservation, discharge reduction and low carbon emission has become a global trend. Because of its light-weight substance, strong performance in corrosion resistance, electric conduction and heat transfer and recyclability, market applications of and demand for aluminium alloy are growing. China’s consumption of industrial aluminium extrusion products is expected to reach 4 million tonnes in 2012, representing a stable 12% y-o-y growth. In view of this,
China Zhongwang will spare no efforts in supporting light-weight development in the transportation, machinery and equipment, and electric power engineering sectors. The Group will further capitalise on its leading edge in industrial aluminium extrusion products and extend its business into deep-processed product as well as flat rolled product segments, aiming to achieve synergies from its three core business lines.
