The team visited the second smelting and casting plant, second aluminium processing plant, aluminium alloy railway carriage body manufacturing plant, mechanical engineering processing workshop, die factory, engineering technology research center, among others. After the plant tour, both parties had a thorough discussion on the aluminium flat rolled products and potential cooperation in other areas. The team said that China Zhongwang had been progressively enhancing its large aluminium extrusion facilities and preparing a number of projects, such as the aluminium flat rolled products, which fully leveraged the Group’s advantages and allowed them to successfully achieve product upgrades.

 

According to the Boston Consulting Group report, it is expected that the total consumption of global aluminium flat rolled products will increase from approximately 19 million tonnes in 2011 to approximately 32 million tonnes in 2020. The growth of the China market is higher than the global average growth. Moreover, it is expected that the total consumption of the aluminium flat rolled products in China will increase from approximately 7.6 million tonnes in 2011 to approximately 16 million tonnes in 2020, accounting for half the global consumption and will become the main driving force for the industry development of the world.

 

In order to capture market opportunities, China Zhongwang hired a well-known advisory organization to conduct detailed research on the demand and supply of the aluminium flat rolled products market, the technical threshold and the scale of the project and capital investment. The aluminium flat rolled product project will commence with a production capacity of 3 million tonnes per year. The project will be commissioned with a total of RMB46.6 billion in phases. Throughout the first phase, the production capacity will reach 1.8 million tonnes. Production is expected to start in the second half of 2014 and realise a full production capacity of 3 million tonnes in 2018. China Zhongwang planned to purchase FRP equipment of USD 3.8 million. The construction of the Tianjin plant has already commenced and the Group has recruited 14 overseas experts so far.
