China Zhongwang Joins “Carbon Audit • Green Partner” Programme

China Zhongwang Holdings Limited (HKEx: 01333) is committed to building a low-carbon society. As part of the efforts, the Group has signed up the “Carbon Reduction Charter” devised by the Environmental Protection Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) recently. As a “Carbon Audit.Green Partner,” the Group has pledged to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. 
 
Since the Hong Kong Government launched the “Green Hong Kong.Carbon Audit” program in 2008, nearly 300 enterprises have already signed up the“Carbon Reduction Charter” and many of the participating corporations are listed companies in Hong Kong and international brand operators. The campaign involves supporting Hong Kong’s first carbon audit guidelines developed by the Government, which aims to encourage organizations to conduct or assist in conducting carbon audits on buildings, and to initiate carbon reduction programmes in the coming two years according to the Carbon Reduction Charter.
 
China Zhongwang has a long-standing commitment to protecting the environment and integrating environmental management into its daily operations and employee activities, aiming to enhance energy effectiveness and reduce carbon footprint generated from operations. Based on the professional guideline and procedures, the Group adopts ISO 14000 environmental management system to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create a cleaner working environment in the area of energy management, wastage and sewage water treatment and the design of production plant environment.  
 
The Group has taken active measures to improve production procedures of industrial aluminium extrusion products in an effort to reduce CO2 and impurities generated from production process. Central to this practice is the use of natural gas in lieu of the high energy consumption to replace coal as the production fuel in the plant located in Liaoyang, Liaoning province. The Group has also installed the world’s advanced multi-point gas detection equipment to ensure the safe use of clean energy.
