Kevin Thomas Kerrigan, Vice President of Michigan Economic Development Corporation, led a delegation and visited China Zhongwang recently. The two parties held an in-depth negotiation and reached a consensus on cooperation.
“China Zhongwang is a large world-renowned enterprise which has achieved brilliant results in the industrial aluminium extrusion product industry. Following a number of new large-scale extrusion presses put in place, China Zhongwang therefore further enhanced its overall capability and international competitiveness,” Mr. Kerrigan said, “The automotive industry in Michigan is well-developed. Big auto companies like General Motors and Ford, and Detroit “Motor City” are right here to provide a fertile ground for the development of related industries. There is ample scope for cooperation between us in the future. We would like to provide more economic and policy support to facilitate our cooperation and create more favorable conditions.”
“The Group completed the industrial aluminium extrusion capacity expansion and upgrade plan the end of 2013. Besides, it is currently committed to developing further fabricated products and aluminium flat rolled products. It has been enhancing its technology capability year after year to strengthen the high-end aluminium processing project. The high-end aluminium further fabricated products not only serve as the Group’s profit driver, but also fuel the growth in overseas market, breaking the barriers of anti-dumping and countervailing measures. The products also gain recognition in the overseas markets,” the marketing representative at China Zhongwang said, “During the first quarter of 2014, the Group’s sales volume of aluminium extrusion products rose 17.4% year-on-year to approximately 166,000 tonnes and that of further fabricated products surged 33% year-on-year to approximately 15,000 tonnes, while export sales revenue grew 36.4% to approximately RMB500 million, accounting for 14.0% of the Group’s revenue.”
The Group has set up a further fabrication technology team and completed the construction of an industrial aluminium extrusion further fabrication centre. Currently, it has developed a series of new products in tandem with the light-weight development in the transportation industry, such as aluminium fire vehicles, refuse trucks, high-speed train compartment bodies suitable for frigid regions and semi-trailers. This manufacturing base with an annual production capacity of 1.8 million tonnes is scheduled for completion and commencement of operation in 2015, while the overall annual production capacity of 3 million tonnes will be realized in 2018. The base will be able to provide high value-added products, such as aluminium plates, aluminium sheets and foils, for the industries and sectors with strict technical requirements, including aviation and aerospace, rail transport, automotive, food and pharmaceutical packaging, chemical containers and engineering facilities.
