A ф784mm 7075 special aluminium alloy billet was successfully produced in the smelting and casting mill of Liaoning Zhongwang Group. Such success symbolized overcome of technical obstacles in smelting and casting of large diameter and super-hard aluminum alloy billet, and set a new record in China.
7075 alloy is one of the hard alloys that are commonly used. With high strength, corrosion resistance, good processing performance, favorable mechanical properties and anode reaction, 7075 alloy is mainly used in aviation and aerospace, die processing, and machinery and equipment, etc.
"The new mega-sized diameter casted aluminum alloy billets will be supplied to the large-tonnage 225MN extrusion press." a staff in
Zhongwang explained, “Casting of large diameter, super-hard aluminum alloy has long been the bottleneck for aluminium alloy producers. Even if the billet is produced without cracking, the inner quality of the billet is hard to meet standard. Therefore, the successful smelting and casting set a milestone in Zhongwang’s development."
Zhongwang is capable of independent production of industrial aluminum extrusion products in four core processes, namely “smelting and casting”, “die design and manufacturing”, "extrusion equipment", and "product development". Aluminum alloy casting and smelting is the first key in producing industrial aluminum extrusion products. It involves smelting electrolytic aluminium of 99.99% in purity, followed by adding auxiliary ingredient and be casted as aluminium alloy. Zhongwang is equipped with an aluminium tilt smelting and casting production line, which enables the Company to hold a leading position in China in terms of scale and technology.
The staff said, "We develop casting formulas based on clients’ demand, and we are able to produce all series of aluminium fabricated products from 1xxx to 7xxx. In line with the new large-scale extrusion presses, the Company continues to replace and upgrade the smelting and casting equipment, and has added more high-precision die equipment to meet the production for die and extrusion products."
