On June 30, the smelting and casting plant of Tianjin Zhongwang Aluminium Company Limited succeeded in producing a 1xxx aluminium alloy ingot in 630mmx2670mm, the width of which is the widest of its type manufactured in China. Together with the 3xxx, 5xxx and 6xxx aluminium alloy ingot of 2670mm in width successfully produced by Tianjin Zhongwang prior to this, Tianjin Zhongwang is now capable of producing all kinds of mild alloy ingots including 1xxx, 3xxx, 5xxx and 6xxx aluminium alloy ingot of 2670mm in width.
It is notable that although the casting equipment used by Tianjin Zhongwang was introduced from Wagstaff in the US, the technological formula contributed to this achievement was designed and developed by Tianjin Zhongwang’s internal technicians, after the foreign engineers responsible for testing of the equipment left.
“The successful production of aluminium alloy ingot of 2670mm in width enabled the plant to produce all kinds of aluminium alloy ingots from 1xxx to 7xxx, which lays a solid foundation for subsequent production of ultra-large aluminium alloy plates for aerospace, vessels, military and transportation industries through hot rolling and cold rolling,” said an employee from Tianjin Zhongwang.
