Liaoning Zhongwang Welding Skill Competition of 2016 Kicks Off

On 12 and 13 August, the union of Liaoning Zhongwang Group held the welding skill competition of 2016, which aimed at motivating workers to strive for excellence in their professional skills.

The competition comprised two sessions, i.e., iron-welding and aluminium-welding. Each contestant recommended by respective division of the union was encouraged to participate in up to one session.

The iron-welding match was held on 12 August with a total of 59 contestants. These contestants were required to weld metal pieces in the specified direction with two welding methods, including carbon dioxide gas shielded welding (CGSW) and manual arc welding (MAW). Moreover, as required by the rules, the metal panel could only be operated within 500mm in height from the ground, while the tubular pieces should be welded in a fixed position. The iron-welding match consisted of five items, including plane angle welding seam, horizontal welding seam, plane vertical welding seam, vertical fillet welding seam and 45° tubular fixed point welding seam. Amid arc and sparkling, the metal pieces were welded together by contestants. At last, Sun Xiaojun from Liaoning Zhongwang Mechanical Equipment Manufacturing Company Limited won the first prize, Lv Dayong from Liaoning Zhongwang Mechanical Equipment Manufacturing Company Limited together with Liu He from the Third Plant of Aluminium Fabrication won the second prize, and Zhang Shukui, Liu Qi and Wang Zhen from Liaoning Zhongwang Mechanical Equipment Manufacturing Company Limited won the third prize.

The aluminium-welding match was held on 13 August with a total of 29 contestants. During the match, the contestants were required to weld two pieces of vertical plates together on a flat plate. To weld the three seams, the contestants were asked to finish welding with only two shots including one using flat welding followed successively by the other using vertical welding. This required extensive experience for the contestants. After exciting competition where contestants showed their strong mind and excellent skill level, Liu Guangzhou from Aluminium Train Compartment Production Mill won the first prize, Li Yulei and Qiao Yanlin from Aluminium Train Compartment Production Mill won the second prize, and Li Mingyu and Cheng Jinyang from Aluminium Train Compartment Production Mill together with Hong Rongxin from Liaoning Zhongwang Special Vehicle Manufacturing Company Limited won the third prize.

The match created a great atmosphere where Zhongwang’s staff enjoyed learning from the competition and, in turn, making progress. “The competition not only represented a good opportunity for excellent welders to stand out, but also motivated our front-line workers to strive to become more experienced and knowledgeable talents,” said the staff of Zhongwang.

Zhongwang Group has been paying great attention to the life-long learning and vocational development of its staff with an aim to improve their abilities in production and collaboration, implementation and innovation as well as their professional skills, setting the solid foundation for the sustainable development of the company as a whole.
